IT'S NOT TOO LATE!!!!

It's Four-Way Test Speech Contest time again.  And while the time to line things up is short – IT IS NOT TOO LATE!
As of today, we have 40 clubs participating.
We have 3 regionals planned:
April 9 in Weatherford
April 23 at the Texas Star
April 30 in Lewisville in the CCA Texas Motor Speedway Annex

Given the regionals are not until April, there is still time for your club to organize a contest and join the 40 clubs already participating, we still have time to accept more participating clubs. Click on 2nd Quarter Edition 4 Way Test Speech Contests Story.

There is great benefit for everyone who participates in the Four-Way Test Speech Contest.

First, for the students who participate --- They must be in high school and may be in a public or private school or may be home-schooled.  The topic is "What the Four-Way Test Means to Me."  The meaning of these words come alive to students as they contemplate on how the Four-Way Test has affected their lives.  In essence, they are learning sound concepts by which to live their lives.  If they apply these concepts throughout their lives, they will be successful and help others to find success as well.

Students have the opportunity to practice their speaking ability before a group of professionals.  How often do they have such an opportunity?  And where will they find a more positive, supportive group of adults than Rotarians?

Some Clubs give monetary prizes for the winners.  One Club grants scholarships for the winners of their Contest.  Some Clubs give a certificate to each of the competitors.  But the opportunity to speak before a Rotary Club is the greatest reward for the speakers.

Second, for the Clubs that participate --- They have the chance to engage with the youths in their community.  These are the people who we hope one day will be not just Rotarians, but Rotary leaders.  And this is just because your Club invited them to speak.

The Club needs only to connect with a school or with their Interact Club to explain how beneficial this is for students.  The Club Coordinator then gives the school contact the rules to be shared with the students and the date and place where the Contest is to be held.  The school will then assign someone to work with the students to determine which four or five students will present to the Club.  The winner of each Club contest then advances to the Regional Contest to compete against approximately twelve other students. A monetary award is granted at that level.

And then on to the District competition where a significant monetary award is granted to all six participants.

This effort is short-term and Oh! So easy!
