Tech geeks were dreaming of the annual rights of fall. I set my alarm for 1:50 a.m. so that I could be at my post as the season began at 2:01 a.m. (midnight plus one, Cupertino California time). My hunting gear was carefully prepared, Amex card to my left hand, reading glasses on my face, my trusty “old” iPad to the right side (just in case I could get in a few seconds earlier through the venerable beast). Fingers on the computer keyboard, I concentrated all my focus upon quarry.
