2015 LONE STAR P.E.T.S.
PRE-CONFERENCE PILOT SEMINAR
SPECIAL PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY
“OPPOSITE STRENGTHS” SEMINAR
The PETs board is pleased to announce a special “pilot” opportunity for PEs, PNs,
and spouses, prior to the PETs training on Thursday, March 5, 2015. A general
leadership seminar known as “The Power of Opposite Strengths” will be taught prior
to the Rotary PE and PN sessions that begin on Friday, March 6.
Internationally known executive coach, Dr. Tommy Thomas, a Texas certified
behavior psychologist and CEO of Opposite Strengths (OS), assisted by Dr. Gene
Davenport, PDG from D5870, will lead this session pro bono as a pilot program for
Rotarian evaluation. Both have much experience in teaching this program to a wide
variety of professional leaders.
Interested Rotarians must pre-register for a $95 fee (includes training materials,
personality profile, lunch, snacks) and then arrive at the DFW Hyatt Regency Hotel
an evening early on Wednesday. Conference room rates will be extended to include
this extra night. Register for this option at the same time that you register for PETs.
The program is based on a book entitled, The Power of Opposite Strengths: Making
Relationships Work, written by Dr. Thomas and his father. It is a dynamic system
that is used to coach executives to perform at their highest potential--both
personally and in their relationships with others. “Opposite strengths” benefits
organizations by teaching people flexible, non-traditional team skills and creating a
positive energized organizational culture that thrives on high productivity and a
network of highly productive relationships throughout.
Once Rotarians have registered for the class, they will be asked to go to the web-site
and complete a personality profile, the results of which will be used during the
session on Tuesday. Participants will also be asked to invite 5 other persons to
complete a profile reflecting their perceptions of an individual’s personality style.
Emphasis in this program is on understanding one’s own personality and leadership
style, with emphasis on how to optimize one’s strengths in relationship with others.
Knowing how to flex for success is a point of emphasis, as well. Participants have
commented on how OS provides insight to personal, professional, and Rotary life.
If additional information is needed in order to make a decision about attendance,
Rotarians are encouraged to study the system by going to Dr. Thomas’ web-site at
