We have all heard how in the U.S. we are losing Rotary members every year. Membership numbers and retention are key to turning the tide.  We need to have more of the younger Rotarians to carry the torch forward.  That means investing in our young high potential members to make that happen.  Learning leadership skills is one of the best ways to get them ready.

Each Rotary club in the District has these rising stars in their membership - someone who is recognized as having the potential, energy and a passion to lead us in both the club and the district. District 5790 Institute for Leadership (IFL) is where you want to send them.  It will be held at the American Airlines Training Center, October 16-18, 2015. It starts on Friday at 4 PM with registration, and ends about 4:00 PM on Sunday.

This course has had many successes over the years, and equips leaders and future leaders with the skills they will need to be successful within your clubs and district. Thelast three years, the IFL committee has totally re-engineered the course by keeping it updated and current. This was done by adding new experiential activities, case studies and content. We have a professional staff of facilitators who have been involved in training and development most of their careers. All have been presidents of their clubs and all have held various leadership roles in the district as well. We also have alumni on the IFL District Committee to get their perspective, as we continually up-date the program. The seminar is challenging, and highly interactive, where ideas and learning are shared, not to mention the networking that occurs with other Rotarians. An added benefit, is that the people you invite to go, will know how much they are thought of in your club, which will serve as a motivator. Many clubs have chosen to send younger people to insure the future. The skills that they will learn can also be used in other areas of their lives.

The price is right and the pay back is huge. If you have any questions about the weekend or the  curriculum, ask the people whom you have sent previously or call me. Register someone now to insure a spot for your club.  Time is near and we need to know if you plan to send someone.  We are holding a block of rooms at the American Airlines Center, and soon we will have to commit to those rooms or let them go. Sign them up today on the 5790 website. Also, there are two scholarships for small clubs to apply for.  Fill out the information and get back to me by September 14.
