Of the things we Think, Say, or Do
As Rotarians, we should look forward to the upcoming 4-Way Test Speech Contest and how that applies to all we do as Rotarians.
First, it is the truth?
YES! The 2018 Speech Contest is rapidly approaching! By now each club should have:
- Contacted the schools for participation and forwarded literature to the school representative
- Scheduled the Contest for February
- Submitted Participation form to the District Coordinator.
But wait, there’s more:
- Jan 15 – Verify the Club Contest Date with the School(s)
- February – hold the contest
- March 1 – Submit the Regional Participation for to the District Coordinator
- April – Regional Contests
- May – District Conference and Contest Finals.
Second, it is fair to all concerned?
YES! The contest is open to public and private high schools or home schools in the community.
- The contest is scored by a panel of three judges, each contestant is given five minutes to speak about “What the 4-Way Test Means to Me.”
- The Club Coordinator
Third, will it build goodwill and better friendships?
YES! This contest demonstrates Rotaries support for community youth and values.
- Contestants may qualify as candidates for other events or scholarships.
Fourth, will it be beneficial to all concerned?
YES! It helps the club, the school, community, and contestants by promoting Rotary and its values
- Gives students an opportunity to create a presentation and deliver before professionals.
- Gives students an opportunity to meet socially with a diverse group of field experts.
