District 5790 Disaster Relief Response: Denton/Cook County Tornadoes

The devastation is almost surreal. However, Rotarians know how to "Create Hope in the World."

We have three ways to create hope for those impacted by the tragedy.

Please join your District 5790 Disaster Relief team in delivering essential support to our Lake Ray Roberts Rotary Club and their surrounding communities devastated by the tornado and storms of May 25th. In response to this urgent call to action, the Denton County Office of Emergency Management has entrusted our Rotary district to coordinate volunteer efforts for debris management in the Pilot Point areas.

Opportunity #1 to serve:

Pilot Point: In-person volunteers should start meeting daily at 8 am. inside the Pilot Point City Hall, 100 East Main Street, TX 76258. Another 4-hour shift will start at 1 p.m.  Your District 5790 Disaster Relief Command Post will be here for the foreseeable future.

Pilot Point Activities AT THIS TIME: Chainsaw Teams and limb removal volunteers. You do NOT need to be a Rotary member.

Skills Needed: Volunteers with experience or a willingness to learn with chainsaws are especially needed. Please bring your chainsaw, fuel, oil, gloves, and safety equipment. District 5790 has enough equipment to create two teams, but more will be needed.
Sign up using this Volunteer form. Volunteers will be informed when the opportunity is canceled due to rainy or unsafe conditions.

Opportunity #2 to serve:

Valley View: The town of Valley View is desperate for volunteers who can hand out water, trash bags, work gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. You can sign up to help over the next two weeks at this link:

Opportunity #3 to serve:

Donations: Besides in-person volunteering, we seek donations to aid these tornado relief efforts. Regardless of size, your contribution is greatly appreciated and will help those affected by this disaster. District donations can be made by selecting the "Donate Now" button at https://disasteraidusa.org/donate/.    Choose the "Texas Relief Fund" option to ensure 100% of your donation goes directly to supporting the communities affected by this tragedy. Together, we can help our Rotarian brothers and sisters rebuild and restore their communities.

Even if you cannot help in person or by donating funds, please post/forward this to your social media sites.

Thank you for your participation,
