District Governor 2016-2017 Mary Ann McDuff
A Fort Worth, Texas native, Mary Ann McDuff, has made Denton, Texas her home for over 40 years. She retired as Director of Academic Financial Services at Texas Woman’s University several years ago after more than 30 years of full-time service. For these past several years, she has immersed herself fully into fulfilling her retirement goal and dream – expansion of community engagement, activism, and ser- vice in the North Central Texas area through Rotary.
 
Mary Ann earned a Bachelor’s degree in history and a Master’s in Sociology from TWU. Beginning work as an Administrative Assistant in Academic Affairs, then named to a Director’s position in 2000.
 
Mary Ann has been a proud member of the Denton Club for 20 years, she served as the club’s first female president during 1998-99. She served 14 years as the club’s Chair of the RYLA committee, she led efforts to partner with Civic and Community groups to build a University centered program.
 
Mary Ann credits the beginning of her love affair with Rotary to her Group Study Exchange experience and to PDG Paul Geisel in 1993-1994. She went with the team to Southern Africa and was immersed in university vocational experiences and observed firsthand the 1994 national election process in South Africa.
 
Honored to be selected as District Governor for 2016-2017, Mary Ann has held many offices and accomplishments in District 5790. Assistant Governor, District Trainer, Chairperson of Membership Development and Retention, RYLA, Women Issues Committees and PETS Discussion Leader.
 
She was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, Club Builder Award for The Denton club and has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Gainesville club. Mary Ann is a multiple Paul Harris Fel- low and a Bequest Society Member.
 
Mary Ann is an active member of the Denton County community, completing her service term on the City of Denton Health Services Advisory Committee this year. She serves on the City of Denton 2014 Citizen Bond Committee, Leisure Services Subcommittee.
 
First United Methodist Church of Denton is her church home.
