Rotary District 5790 hosts a forum for
Rotary Club Leaders to learn ways
to host Virtual Club Meetings for members and guests

One hundred Rotary members from throughout Rotary District 5790 participated in virtual forum to discuss ways Rotary can continue to serve their members and the community while observing Covid 19 social distancing and shelter in place mandates.
Three different options were discussed; Go-to-Meeting, Zoom and Live Stream. Pros and Cons of each were discussed. In addition, we discussed how to actually run a virtual meeting and invited members that have already implemented a virtual meeting for their club to describe the process they went through to purchase the virtual meeting tool, organize the meeting and actually run the on-line meeting.

The forum also included a review of Virtual Rotary Meetings Options document prepared by the District 5790 Public Image committee. The document provides information regarding the various options, their cost and the steps clubs need to take to prepare and implement a successful meeting.

It was also noted that Zoom participates in Rotary Global Rewards and that Zoom was currently offering a 20% subscription discount when using the code "ZOOMROTARY". Simply click view offer and follow prompts to purchase your desired subscription.

We also heard from three clubs that have instituted community service projects in response to the impact of Covid 19. Fort Worth Rotary is setting up a fund to support those impacted by Covid 19. Flower Mound Rotary is working with the clubs the greater Lewisville area to establish a similar fund. And Cross Timbers Rotary described how they are continuing their mission to support fellow Rotary members, their family and their community through their Rotary Cares initiative where members stay in touch with those "at risk" and need supplies or even the emotional support of a fellow Rotarian.

Governor Scott closed the meeting with a reminder that each of us can contribute by just using that archaic instrument called a telephone. Continue to support each other by calling, checking and providing support however we can.
