Grapevine Rotary Honors, Grapevine Firefighter, Morris Leondar with Vocational Excellence Award

Morris has been an outstanding member of the Grapevine Fire Department for over 22 years. During this time he has helped establish and contributed too many of the programs that we continue today.
 
Here are a few of his accomplishments;
  • Started with GFD on September 19, 1994
  • Promoted to Driver on March 2, 2011
  • Became an Self Contained Breathing Apparatus technician in 2011
  • Has been an apparatus committee member
  • Charter GFD Honor Guard member and treasurer since 2003
  • Charter Dive team Member
  • Founding member of Buckets Safety Brigade
  • Started Breakfast with Santa
  • Aledo VFD (ESD) Fire Chief  
During the recent loss of fellow firefighter James McKenzie, Morris took the lead as the family liaison to James’ family. His actions and compassion brought great relief and comfort to the McKenzie family. It also brought relief to the Grapevine Fire Department family in knowing that James’ family was in good hands and were being taken care of. Morris has gone above and beyond on many occasions and is deserving of the Grapevine Rotary Club Vocational Excellence award for this quarter.
