Lewisville Morning Rotary Honors LPD's Captain Jesse Hunter
This year the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club is Honoring the Vocations of those who Serve. Throughout every quarter for the next year we will be honoring a someone from the Lewisville Police Department. a LFD Fireman, a LFD Paramedic and a LISD Educator. At our August 25th meeting we honored Captain Jesse Hunter of the Lewisville Police Department. Jesse Hunter – Captain Jesse assumes the position of Patrol Captain after serving 6 years as a Sergeant in Patrol and the Special Operations Unit.

Jesse began his career with the Lewisville Police Department in 2001 after working at the Denton County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer, and at the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff.  At Lewisville Police Department, Jesse worked as a patrol officer and Field Training Officer until being assigned to the Street Crimes Unit in October of 2008.  Jesse was then promoted to Sergeant in December of 2009.  As a Sergeant, Jesse was one of the Honor Guard team leaders and the Field Training Coordinator.  Jesse was assigned to the Special Operations Unit in June of 2015 where he led the Street Crimes and Gang Unit until being promoted to the rank of Captain.  Jesse is a TCOLE certified Instructor, a TCOLE certified firearms instructor, a licensed Tactical Firearms Instructor through the NRA and currently holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate from TCOLE.
 
Jesse graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.  Jesse was also commissioned into the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant through the Army’s Reserve Officer Training Corps at SFA.  After receiving his commission, he attended the Military Police Officer’s Basic Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  In 2003, Jesse deployed to Iraq as a Platoon Leader with the 302nd Military Police Company. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Jesse was awarded two Army Achievement Medals, one Army Accommodation Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and the Lieutenant James F. Flowers Company-Grade Officer of the Year Award / 2004.  Upon returning from Iraq, Jesse was promoted to the rank of Captain and selected as the Commander of the 302nd Military Police Company where he served for 2 years.  Jesse left the Army in 2009 as a Captain to purse his career in Law Enforcement and to spend more quality time with his growing family.
 
Jesse’s awards include the Honor Guard Badge, Expert Marksmanship Award, Fifteen Year Service Award, Fifteen Year Safe Driving Award, Officer of the Year Award (2005) and the Supervisor of the Year Award (2014).
 
Jesse is currently an honorary member of the Metroplex Chapter of the Concerns of Police Survivors, and a member of Team Texas cycling team.  Jesse is married to his wife of 11 years, Rebecca, and has two children, Chase who is 8 and his daughter Taylor who is 4.
