Many Rotarians in District 5790 spend much of their New Years Day looking for "our" float to come down the midway in Pasadena. Back a few years ago PDG Paul Geisel was honored to be on the float to represent our District. Below is the press release announcing the disappointing news.

For Immediate Release July 15, 2020 Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee, Inc 2021 Rose Parade Cancelled Pasadena, CA— July 15, 2020 — Today in a statement The Tournament of Roses officials said in part: “With reluctance and tremendous disappointment, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association announces that, in accordance with Governor Newsom’s Phase IV re-opening schedule, and after thoughtful consideration of the restrictions and guidelines in place as a result of COVID-19, we are unable to host the 2021 Rose Parade.” … “Although the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association will not be hosting its 132nd Rose Parade, they will celebrate the New Year on January 1, 2021. Working in conjunction with our broadcast partners and sponsors, the Tournament of Roses has plans underway for a new kind of New Year celebration for those across the country and around the world. Each year, the country turns its eyes to Pasadena for America's New Year celebration, and we plan to deliver on that important promise…” The Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee will continue to operate. Even though the 2021 Rose Parade® will not be going forward, the committee’s mission of promoting Rotary to the world will continue this year. The Tournament of Roses intends to have a celebration on New Year’s Day. The committee intends to promote Rotary to the world during that celebration. The committee will be counting on the continued support of Rotarians and especially long-time contributors to fund this new and exciting venture.
